Is it true?!? Another website
Seized by Homeland Security for the videos that were posted on it?
Speculations say that 50 cent was the cause of this attack because
of "the type of videos" that were shown on the website. So, my
question is what about the videos that 50 cent had on the World Star
Hip-Hop??
AllHipHop.com states this on the Seizement.
Rapper
50 Cent sent a tweet out to his 3,888,543 million followers and took
credit for shutting down popular urban website, WorldstarHipHop.com.
The site went down without warning earlier today (January 24th).
Just moments ago, 50 Cent took to Twitter and took credit for the
site's disruption, squashing rumors that the site was seized by
Homeland Security, like several other websites in November of 2010.
"I don't know why people underestimate me. I just shut down
WORLDSTAR for future advertising contact thisis50.com suckers lol,"
50 Cent tweeted. "I put worldstar to bed, you don't believe try me I
will shut your sh*t down. Lol."
In November of 2009, 50 Cent filed a lawsuit against the website,
claiming his image and content was used on the website without
permission.
“I have lawyers on retainers and I have to pay them so much money
anyway, so we’ll go back and forth to court until (they) can’t
afford a Subway sandwich,” 50 Cent said in 2009. “It’s already too
late for (them).
Reps for WorldStarHipHop.com have not responded to a request for a
statement as of press time.
50 issued an ominous prediction that may come true this week.
"I predict 2 more web sites will shut down this week. Take a guess
who they are. I'm sick of the hate I'm to strong," 50 Cent tweeted.
Southern University's David Banner has been inducted into the
Mississippi Musicians Hall Of Fame.
A
private ceremony was held last night in downtown Jackson,
Mississippi, in the honor of several musicians that will be
inducted into the Mississippi Musicians Hall of Fame, (www.msmusic.org)
including David Banner. The MMHOF, author of the trademark
slogan “Mississippi, Birthplace of America’s Music,” will be
celebrating 15 years in service as an organization founded in
Mississippi to promote music and artists. The slogan, used in
publications by the Department of Tourism, is now visible at
every highway entrance into the state of Mississippi, as well as
all welcome centers. The Jackson-Evers International Airport is
home to the Mississippi Musician Hall of Fame Museum/On Stage
Restaurant.
Upon receiving the honor, Banner stated:
“For so long we travel around the world
as artists trying to find our place in the scheme of things.
There is nothing like being recognized at home. Tonight I am
honored and humbled to be in great musical company.”
Among previous Mississippi Musicians Hall of Fame members are
B.B. King, Muddy Waters, Faith Hill, Howlin’ Wolf, Jimmy
Buffett, Elvis Presley, and Lance Bass.
Within Young Money star Drake’s latest track with Rick Ross,
“Made Men,” he hints a possible relationship between he and the
Barbados beauty Rihanna, rapping “ One of my baddest women ever
I call her Rihanna but that’s cause her name is Rihanna. “
Drake had previously revealed that a portion of his track
“Fireworks” was a reference to his encounter with Rihanna after
they “hooked up” at New York’s Lucky Strike bowling alley. On
the track, Drake raps:
“I could tell it wasn’t love/ I just thought you f*cked with me/
Who could have predicted/ Lucky Strike would have you stuck with
me…Damn, I kept my wits about me, luckily/ What happened between
us that night it always seems to trouble me/ Now all of a
sudden, these gossip rags want to cover me/ And you making it
seem like it happened that way because of me.”
Rihanna has had difficulty dodging the press as word of her
latest break-up with Dodgers player Matt Kemp circulates.
Previously, Rihanna was in a relationship with R&B singer Chris
Brown, later sentenced to anger management for abusing her.
Drake also landed the role of Rihanna’s love interest for her
video “What’s My Name.”
Soulja Boy confirmed via Twitter that he is in fact that
ghostwriter of Willow Smith’s hit single “Whip My Hair.”
Soulja
tweeted “Yes its true I wrote ‘Whip My Hair’ for
Willow Smith. That’s why she says hop out the
bed turn my swag on. We getting $$$ 2011 No
Games.”
The 10-year
old daughter of Will Smith released the single
in fall of 2010, and is now signed to Jay-Z’s
Roc Nation label. The single debuted on the
Billboard Hot 100 at #11, making Willow one of
the most prominent solo artists in history to do
so, oh once again she is only 10! She will
release her first studio album during 2011.
Though many details on the album remain unknown,
a 45-second clip entitled “Rockstar” has
appeared online, claimed to be her new song.
Aside from
her upcoming debut, Willow is preparing to
support Justin Bieber on the European portion of
his “My World Tour” during March.
Oprah started 2011 off by introducing her own
television network to the world, OWN, featuring
round-the-clock programming. Jay-Z appears as the
first guest on Oprah’s “ Master Class.”
“Master Class” features inspirational individuals,
and their voyage to success. During the program,
Oprah joined Jay-Z on a trip into his past, back to
the Marcy Projects, where he reminisced of his
childhood and told stories of growing up in an urban
lifestyle. From his first boom box bestowed upon him
by his mother, to performing at presidential events,
Jay-Z walks the home viewers through a his success
story, providing valuable lessons to those who seek
a life of high social status and wealth.
Upcoming episodes of “Master Class” will feature
well-renowned poet Maya Angelou, actor Sidney
Poitier, and ABC’s Diane Sawyer.
Sean
“Diddy” Combs offered to pay for the services needed to return
model Miyoki Jones hair back to its original state, after it
caught fire at his album release party.
After viewing a video of the models hair on fire at his “Last
Train To Paris” release party, Diddy offered to cover the bill
in order to make up for the loss of her lovely locks. Comedian
Kevin Hart, Trey Songz and Fabolous were all present while model
Miyoki Jones relaxed in a tub surrounded by candles, where her
hair was too close to the flame, which set her hair ablaze.
Jones was otherwise unarmed, as TMZ reports, and her hair will
cost approximately $1,000 to repair. While Jones suffered no
life threatening injuries, a source tells TMZ that Diddy will
gladly pay for services needed to repair her torched locks.
Previously reported, federal authorities shut down five websites
on suspicion of copyright infringement, without warning or
proper explanation of their investigation, and have not filed
any criminal charges as of yet.
The seizure
warrant used in the operation was released last
week, resulting in operators of the shut-down
sites stating that they were innocent of
infringement, criticizing the investigation for
misrepresenting how their websites were handled.
Within a
69-page affidavit seeking the warrant, an agent
of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and the
unit of the Department of Homeland Security,
claim the five websites – rapgodfathers.com,
torrent-finder.com, rmx4u.com, dajaz1.com and
onsmash.com , were used “to commit or facilitate
criminal copyright infringement.”
The agent
also said that Motion Picture Association of
America and the Recording Industry Association
of America, trade groups for major film studios
and record labels, confirmed the music and
movies on the websites had not been released
with proper authorization of their copyright
holders.
Upon a review
of the affidavit, the operator of dajaz1.com – a
popular Hip-Hop blog that posts new songs and
videos, disputed many of the warrants examples
of what it considered copyright infringement. He
said, similar to much of the material on his
site, the songs had been sent to him for
promotional purposes by record labels and the
artists. As proof, the operator, known online as
Splash, showed The New York Times several
e-mails from record label employees and
third-party marketers offering songs mentioned
in the affidavit.
“It’s not my
fault if someone at a record label is sending me
the song,” Splash stated.
The affidavit
uses a post with a link to new music by rapper
Kid Cudi, with a line informing readers, “You
can pre-order the album on iTunes tomorrow and
receive a bonus track on the day of release,” in
describing what it argues as an infringing
aspect of onsmash.com.
Waleed A.
Gadelkareem, an Eqyptian who operated torrent-finder.com,
said that his website served as a search engine
for BitTorrent files, a “decentralized
file-sharing system” used to find any data, with
results found with ease on other Internet
locations.
“Google and
Yahoo still link to them,” he said. “Why can’t
I?”
Torrent-finder.com has followed suite like other
seized domains, relocated to torrent-finder.info,
and is now fully operational.
The websites
were shut down over Thanksgiving weekend as part
of “Operation In Our Sites,” a crackdown on 82
web domains, suspected of copyright infringement
and the sale of counterfeit handbags,
sunglasses, and other consumer goods. The
Investigation continues with the unknowingly
seized websites as web advocates see this act as
a preview of a controversial bill in Congress,
the Combating Online Infringements and
Counterfeits Act, which would extend the
attorney general’s power in pursuing websites
that may or may not actually participate in
infringing activities.
“There is
tremendous concern about the climate of fear and
uncertainty this is going to create,” stated
Peter Eckersley of the Electronic Frontier
Foundation, a civil liberties group. “It’s a
troubling situation where basically any Web site
that the Department of Homeland Security doesn’t
like and is convinced has too much infringing
material on it can just disappear overnight.”
Not only were people riveted by the oil spill in the Gulf of
Mexico this year, they also couldn’t resist sharing some wry
humor on the matter. That’s why Stephen Colbert’s 140-character
comment on the spill was Twitter’s Top Retweeted Tweet of 2010.
“In honor of oil-soaked birds, ‘tweets’ are now ‘gurgles,’ ”
read the post that earned the comedian a Golden Tweet award on
“The Colbert Report” Tuesday night.
Much of the top 10 Retweeted Tweets were from musicians: Drake
(#2), Lil Wayne (#3), Justin Bieber (#4), Joe Jonas (#6), Lady
Gaga (#7), Kanye West (#8) and Rihanna (#9). A post from spoof
account @alqueda was #5, and an ironically uplifting piece of
advice from @sh–mydadsays made the list at #10.
Earlier this week, Twitter and Facebook released their
respective lists of the top trends on their sites over the past
12 months. Each is a fascinating look at the obsessions and
globally unifying events, people, pop culture fixations and
bizarre crazes that grabbed our digital attention this year.
While there’s some crossover on the Twitter and Facebook lists,
the more interesting parts are where they diverge.
For instance, the #1 item on Facebook’s “Memology 2010″ global
list of top status trends was “HMU,” a shorthand status update
that translates to “hit me up,” meaning someone wants you to
call or text them.
Diddy Dirty
Money's Train has made it to Parris... TODAY
People chuckled when
Diddy announced that
his next project would be a concept album about a
tempestuous relationship played out on Europe’s
international rail system. They laughed when he
declared that his ambitions were so vast, no
existing genre could hold him. “I’m ushering in a
new movement called ‘train music,’” the hip-hop
mogul boasted in one press release. That was in
February 2009, and the snickers only got louder each
time he subsequently pushed back the disc’s release
date. Now Last Train to Paris is finally
pulling into the station, and here’s the funniest
thing about it: Diddy has followed through on every
crazy promise and then some, resulting in his best
work in years.
“Train music” turns out to be a highly danceable
strain of hip-hop, with at least as much singing as
rapping. Diddy isn’t the only one working loosely
similar territory these days — just ask the Black
Eyed Peas, Drake, or even Kanye West — but Last
Train‘s glittery grooves feel authentically his
own. It’s the sound of his 2007 hit “Last Night,” an
electro-laced torch duet with Keyshia Cole, blown
out to album length.
Perhaps realizing that he can’t quite pull off this
feat all by himself, Diddy gives equal billing to
two singers, Kalenna and ex-Danity Kane member Dawn
Richard. The female two-thirds of Diddy-Dirty Money
flesh out Last Train‘s skeletal storyline,
playing jealous lovers, disappointed partners, and
commanding divas to his conflicted playboy. Assorted
suave fellows, including Usher, Lil Wayne, Rick
Ross, and T.I., help fill out his side of the
conversation.
As that partial guest list might suggest, this is a
very crowded ride. The sheer number of cameos
overwhelms the narrative conceit after a while,
around the moment when Justin Timberlake
inexplicably starts rapping about X-Men
characters (“Shades”). But who really cares? By that
time, you just might be enjoying yourself way too
much to notice. B+
No stranger to the music industry, Grammy Award winning singer,
songwriter, entrepreneur, and television star, Kandi, is gracing
the masses with yet another heartfelt solo project, Kandi Koated,
that is set for release on December 14 on Kandi Koated/Asylum/Warner
Bros. In addition, Kandi recently shot a video for Haven’t Loved
Right in honor of her ex-fiance, AJ, who senselessly died in
Atlanta a little over a year ago.
On Kandi
Koated, Kandi has taken the reins and delivered a cohesive album
that has everything you would expect from a singer who has
helped create numerous songs that have served as the soundtrack
to our lives.
“The album is
about love, relationships. It’s meeting someone. Falling for
them. Falling out with them. Breaking up with them. Thinking
about them. Getting back together. Moving on. It’s all there,”
she says of the project, which she almost completely wrote, with
the exception of the impossibly catchy Me and You, written and
produced by Ne-Yo, and sampling the Outkast classic Elevators.
I Want You,
produced by J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League, is Euro-smooth and
ultra-feminine, while Leroy Jones is the surefire single
mothers’ anthem. Kandi’s long-time friend Jazze Pha collaborated
on the soulful and explosive 808-filled break up hymn Leave You
and she reinforces the importance of respect with I’m Happy with
remarkable Deniece Williams-like vocal acrobatics.
Kandi’s
singing career took flight in the 1990s with the Atlanta-based
girl group Xscape. After three consecutive platinum certified
albums, the group split but Kandi’s hunger for self-expression
was far from fulfilled and she dove into her love of
songwriting. Within a few short years, she was the first woman
to be nominated and awarded ASCAP’s Rhythm and Soul Awards for
Songwriter of the Year in the year 2000 for her lyrical creation
of the TLC hit No Scrubs. Most recently, however, Kandi is known
as one of the most likable cast members of Real Housewives of
Atlanta. Leaving the life of reality television behind for a
spell, the Grammy Award winning artist joined the 22-city Back
To Me tour with Fantasia to promote her new album. Despite her
burgeoning television stardom, having a hand in the sale of 56
million albums and 14 platinum records, Kandi remains genuine in
her delivery of real life situations that people of all
backgrounds can relate to. Kandi Koated is sure to resonate with
anyone who’s loved and been loved.
Hip Hop
blogs shut-down from online world after being
seized. Seems that hip hop blog websites OnSmash and
RapGodfathers have been seized by ICE - Homeland
Security Investigations and are reported to be under
investigation.
According to MTV, the
seizure occurred on Tuesday November 23rd for
RapGodfathers whose servers were seized by the FBI.
As for Onsmash, they claim that only their domain
name has been seized.
Allegedly, both sites made
claims that they complied with any DMCA (Digital
Millennium Copyright Act) requests and the majority
of the content was submitted by either the labels,
management or the artists directly.
Meanwhile, MTV’s
RapFix has questioned the
fate of the websites that belong to the New Music
Cartel (NMC), that include a number of hip-hop blogs
such as Nahright,
YouHeardThatNew, amongst
others.
As for RapGodfathers, the site
has already relaunched under a new domain with the
.info extension.
In other conversations across
the web, everyone is talking about the Combating
Online Infringement and Counterfeits Act (COICA,
S.3804) which was just passed. As little as linking
to a bit-torrent or a site with pirated information
could have you banned and removed by the Justice
Department with a court order. The goal is to shut
down websites if copyright infringement is deemed
“central to the activity” of the web site or blog.
Diddy Acused Of Stealing
Proceeds From Breast Cancer Charities
The New York Post recently reported that two breast
cancer organizations claim that they were chosen to
be the beneficiary of proceeds from a “Pinky Party”
hosted by Sean “Diddy” Combs in Long Island. The
charities state that after the party took place,
Diddy left in possession of over five figures, while
they were left with nothing.
“Nothing was written down, but we were told we would
get part of the take,” said Carolyn Spector, the
director of the Long Island Plastic Surgical Group
Foundation, during the interview. “The terminology
was ‘proceeds from the event.’ “
Diddy states that he is in fact an advocate for
breast cancer awareness, but informed The New York
Post that he did not negotiate the event, nor did he
agree to contribute to the charity.
“I
didn’t know what the [club] owner promised — that
had nothing to do with me,” Diddy said in the
interview. “I had no information about the charity.
When the event was booked, it was just for an
appearance. I agreed to let him add the charity
because I thought it was a good idea.”
Despite the fact that Diddy claims that he never had
any obligations, the club owner stated that he
allowed the charities the opportunity to raise money
on their own during the event by setting up
designated donation tables, but the two in charge of
collecting funds began “partying,” and left the
charity with not a penny raised. The charities
controvert the claim.
At
this time, the club responsible for hosting the
party, Glo, says that due to poor attendance
numbers, the charity lost money.
“It was agreed that if there was a profit, a portion
of it would be given to the charity,” a Glo
spokeswoman stated. “But the night of the event,
there was a torrential rainstorm. They expected
thousands and only a few hundred showed up. So they
lost money.”

Over the summer, ATL
rapper Young Jeezy, released several tracks
including “The Real BMF,” “Death B4 Dishonor,”
and “The Summer’s Mine,” that seemed to contain
offensive lyrical content seemingly directed
towards Miami’s Rick Ross. When questioned by
MTV, Jeezy insisted the tracks were not intended
as insults.Last week, despite the fact that his
name was not dropped, a clip of Jeezy made an
obvious reference to Ross. In the video, Jeezy
is seen walking around Miami, as he states,
“Where your favorite rapper at?” Jeezy asks in the
video. “I don’t see that n****. I’m on the streets …
come out here, n****. Whatever n****s wanna do. I’m
out here.”
Ross became aware of the video shortly after
circulation, and shared his thoughts on it during an
interview with Tim Westwood on Tuesday, stating
Jeezy “played himself.”
“I
actually got to see the footage of him walking on
South Beach, down Collins Ave and he played his
self,” Ross said. “You gotta come across the bridge
to Carol City … to Little
Haiti. That’s where you get your issues — Washington
Ave. “What’s crazy about that is when they ask about
my name, they still don’t really have a direct
answer,” the rapper continued.
“That ain’t gangster at all. If you really got an
issue, put it on the table like a G. Walking down
Collins Ave, you played yourself. You’ll get that
took from you.”

50 Cent Talks to Nicki Minaj
about Advice On Lil Kim
Nicki Minaj’s “Roman's Revenge" is causing turmoil
within the Hip-Hop industry. The track has only
added fuel to the flame that has ignited between the
Young Money star and Lil Kim. Despite her attempt to
suggest the Eminem collaboration is not directed at
Lil Kim, it appears that the statement is one thing
coming out of Nicki Minaj’s mouth that no one is
buying.
On November
3rd, Nicki explained “Roman’s
Revenge” to DJ Khaled of 99 Jamz in
Miami, staying, “I’m talking about
everyone who’s been in interviews
talking…I don’t ever single anyone
out.”
Over the
weekend, in response, Lil Kim
attended a Queen’s nightclub and
continued her obvious distaste for
her fellow femcee, defending
herself, stating “My records ain’t
just enter the charts, they made
history…I don’t ever let nothing
take me off my grind.”
50 Cent tipped
his two cents to MTV News, regarding
the similarity in the female
rappers’ styling, stating it should
be considered a good thing. “It’s
obvious, she was inspired by some of
Kim’s [style]; but that’s not bad.
There’s not a whole lot of female
artists that you can make reference
to, so you’ll see those little
influences even stronger. I think
she’s hot — I think she’s got a good
little thing going right now, as far
as Nicki Minaj is concerned.”
On November
6th, 50 proceeded to provide his
opinion on the Rap-battle between
the two women via Twitter, posting,
“I just heard that em nikki joint
good sh*t. I know kim tight. Lol she
gonna ride on her and em. Lol.”
Nicki Minaj’s
debut, “Pink Friday,” will be
available in stores November 23.

"Birdman" Speaks about Releasing a Book on Drake and Wayne
(Click to pik view Interview)
Birdman is
continuing to speak on his business ventures outside of rap,
this time the possibility of releasing books on his two biggest
artists Drake and Lil Wayne.
As previously
reported, the rapper was recently outed by the Miami Herald for
speaking on his upcoming ownership of the Miami Dolphins, a
claim the paper says was not true.
Now the Cash
Money head say he’s inked a book deal with publishing company
Simon & Schuster and plans to release books on the two rappers
in the future.
He revealed
his plans in an interview with NBC Nitecap, telling reporter
Peter Bailey,
“We’re
publishing books, we bought Iceberg Slim’s whole collection…the
book is something that can go with the music, publishing is
something that can go with the music, and the movies can go with
the music so we stay within our realm. “
Nicki Minaj is
prepares to embark on her “Pink Friday” tour in support of her

Drake Admits He Wrote Alicia
Keys’ ‘Un-Thinkable’ About Nicki Minaj
On Alicia Keys
single “Un-Thinkable (I’m Ready),” she sings about a tempting
and forbidden love that may not be accepted by everyone. The
song has been said to bare resemblance to Keys personal
experiences, but in a recent interview with BET.com, Drake, who
co-wrote the joint, insists his feelings about Nicki Minaj were
inspiration for the track.
“It is [about
Minaj], I’m not gonna lie,” Drake said. “The concept came from a
conversation that we had, or conversations we have. I wrote it
based off two things: Number one, based off that, and then two,
based off Alicia and Swizz and their situation, and it just
seemed fitting. It was like the perfect concept.”
Originally,
Minaj let the cat out of the bag during an interview with
Complex, saying “You know what else he told me he wrote for me?
The Alicia Keys song ‘I’m Ready.’ I happen to love the song. I
never told anyone that; I hope he won’t get mad that I said
that.”
Though the
Young Money rappers convey a brother/sister relationship, they
managed to leave the public curious with their short-term
“Twitter marriage.” Drake admitted his crush on Minaj during an
interview with MTV2’s “Sucker Free Countdown,” when he said
“I’ve always really, actually, really had a crush on her, always
really loved her, and she’s always just looked at me as, like,
her little brother.”
“Un-Thinkable,” produced by Noah “40” Shebib, is the third
single from Keys latest album, “The Element of Freedom.”
